About Elizabeth Blount, CT

I am an ATA-certified French and Dutch to English translator originally from Chicago, Illinois and now based near Denver, Colorado. I have 6 years of experience living in French- and Dutch-speaking countries, having studied and worked in both France and Belgium. I have a B.A. in Modern Languages (French/Spanish) with a minor in Physics from Beloit College, which included study abroad at the University of Upper Brittany, France. I also have an M.A. in French Linguistics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where I completed a Business French course program and was awarded a Certificate of Business French with honors from the Paris Chamber of Commerce.

My liberal arts education has given me the advantage of being a versatile, well-rounded worker eager to research the background of each document I translate, which means high-quality translations for my clients.

Before starting as a freelance translator, I worked as a literary translation editor at an American publishing house, a project manager, editor and translator at a Belgian translation agency, and an in-house translator for one of Belgium’s largest insurance companies.

My hobbies include classical and jazz singing, playing the piano and guitar, amateur astronomy, reading British literature, and hiking and bicycling in the Rocky Mountains.
